TheGathering

An image of a globe with a diverse range of people in square photos. Two light colored hands are holding a smart phone, showing the same image on the screen.

The text over the graphic says The Gathering in purple script. At the bottom right, in purple plain text, it says Jane Bingum the Just. Jane put the graphic together, but did not design the base image with the people. It is from Pixabay.

TheGathering, formerly named Gone With the Guild (2016-2022), is my guild in Q-world on the US Server. We welcome new members. We are a quiet but active guild; we get things done! The original name was a parody/joke. I do not support the ideals expressed in the book GWTW, and elected to change the name of the guild shortly after returning to the game in 2022 to be more respectful.

The Gathering (with a space) was her 2nd longest-running guild, in Sinerania (2014-2019) with co-founder Sr Hanz. When she was on hiatus from the game, that guild disbanded. She decided to revive it when Dilmun opened, and there is The Gathering (the original spelling, no space), but it was taken on Q, so she had to make it one word on Qunrir.

Guild Information:

Founded 10/29/2016 as Gone With the Guild; renamed 10/23/2022. Rebuilding after losing several members to health issues between 2019-2022. Jane runs The Gathering (w/a space) on Dilmun as well, but there she has a co-founder and 4 other leaders.

Currently welcoming new members! We use the ā€˜apply to joinā€™ option only to prevent players from auto-joining, aiding 1 player, and then leaving the guild immediately after that. Your founder, Jane, is friendly and fair-minded. She is an experienced player in several other worlds, and has been playing since 2014.Ā

Brief Guild Summary:

Accepting active members Iron Age and up.
If youā€™re lower level, Lighthouse and Zeus are good GBs to get going; LoA helps your goods stock and Zeus helps your military.

  • Fair Trade.
  • GE and GBG. (At least first 4 encounters of GE for new players.)
  • Must have OBS or be working towards one. Arc is an extra plus.
  • Don’t level guildmates’ Great Buildings unless they’ve okayed it.
  • Aid (motivate/polish) guildmates town as often as possible.
  • Visit taverns!
  • No activity 7+ days and no heads-up ahead of time can lead to removal.
  • No drama.

  1. We are a Fair Trade Guild, please use this tool if youā€™re not sure how to make specific trade fairly: http://foe.kwister.net/goodstrade/ (And this site gives some good info on fair trades: https://www.forgeofempirestips.com/fair-trade-ratios/)
  2. We participate in both Guild Battlegrounds (GBG) and the Guild Expedition (GE), and have taken 1st place many times in the GE! We ask that you try to at least complete Level 1 of the GE each week. If you cannot do that, please do at least the first 8 encounters. If you’re super new to the game, and/or you were forced to level up sooner than you were ready to (i.e. for a special event you really wanted to complete) and you’re legitimately unable to even do 8 encounters, just let Jane know that you can only do the first 4.
    • In GBG, look for the target symbol to see which sector we’re targeting. If there’s a hand, it means stop! (GBG is in need of more GBG-knowledgeable players.)
  3. There is no set amount of goods you’re required to donate to our guild treasury, but we ask that you try to donate something each week so that we can continue to unlock the GE levels. (But don’t short yourself of goods you need in the process!) Sometimes this may mean you’re only donating via your GB (OBS, Arc, etc).
  4. We’re pretty low-key, especially with guild message threads, but please try to keep up with them. Sporadically we will ask you questions which need replies. As the guild grows, we’d like to see the threads become more active, especially the Forge Point swaps.
  5. Help your guildmates with their Great Buildings (GB), but please let the GB owner add the final Forge Points (FP) so that they can double dip (collect the GB twice in one 24-hour period!). We all know that accidents happen, and sometimes you will accidentally level someone’s GB. We’ve all done it. Just apologize and try not to do it often.
    1. Some GBs do not provide a physical collection (ex: Zeus, Temple of Relics) and it’s unlikely anyone will mind if you flip those.
    2. Unless the GB owner says it is okay for you to level them, please do not do it. Some players collect and level all of their GBs at the same time, and leveling one for them can throw their system (and/or their memory) out of whack.
  6. Aid (motivate/polish) your guildmates town as often as possible for you. You get coins out of it, and people are more likely to help you, if you’ve helped them. And it helps you get random Blue Prints (BP)! If they’re a game-friend, visit their tavern too!
  7. Try to off your Stone Age decorations/buildings as soon as you level up into the Bronze Age. They don’t do much for you, and they provide ZERO BPs to players who are aiding you. (And they’re likely to stop aiding you if they realize you still have SA items. SA goods buildings don’t count about this.)
  8. Be nice to your guildmates. No drama.
  9. If you’re inactive for 7+ days twice without giving us a heads-up, we’ll remove you from the guild. As long as you’ve been a good player/guildmate, you’ll be welcome back as soon as you have more free time!

Notes:

  • We are currently only unlocking GE levels above level 2 on request. When we unlock levels 2-4 of the GE, it requires a certain number of goods from the guild treasury. The amount due per level is based on the number of guild members at the start of each expedition cycle — whether those members are active or not.
    • If you are able to play levels 2+, or you need to complete them for a quest, please let Jane know, and she’ll be happy to do it! We just don’t want to unlock them and then find out no one was able to do those levels.
  • The admin panel lets us see how long you’ve been inactive.
    • Being active in general, but continually inactive in the GE can get you removed from the guild too, since you’re costing us goods but not giving back. Even if you can just do the first 4 for awhile, it’s better than 0!
  • GE and GBG helps us level up the guild. The higher the guild level, the more benefits each individual member of the guild receives! (ex: Instead of just collecting coins from your Town Hall, you can collect FPs — depending on your guild’s level.) Basically: help the guild level up and reap the benefits in YOUR town!

Any questions? Ask away! We hope you’ll enjoy the guild. And as always, have fun!
